It’s been another great week for craft beer. Last weekend, Colorado welcomed two new breweries onto the scene. We were lucky enough to visit both and get you guys the full scoop. Odyssey Beerwerks in Arvada and Mountain Toad Brewing in Golden are pumping out some tasty brews to share with all of us. Get over for a visit and welcome them to the neighborhood.
And just in case that wasn’t enough for you, (you greedy little monkey) then we’ve got yet another new brewery opening this weekend. Read on for all the details.
Oh and by the way, we may or may not be giving away a bottle of Crooked Stave’s Wild Wild Brett Violet… Guess you’ll have to read on and find out for yourself.

June reminds me of Summer, and what better way to begin the Summer months than by attending the Burning Can Beer Fest in beautiful Lyons.
Burning Can is THE canned brew fest and it’s brought to you by the people who sparked the craft can revolution more than a decade ago. Oskar Blues! Yep, Yep. More than 30 breweries from across the country will be at Burning Can on Saturday pouring their canned craft concoctions. Look for the obvious choices from local favorites like Avery, New Belgium, Upslope and Dry Dock, along with some rare appearances by Indiana’s Sun King and Arizona’s San Tan. The brew fest takes place at the Lyons Outdoor Games. We’re pretty excited for this one and hope to see you there.
In addition to all the great beer that’ll be flowing, there’s trolley rides available from Oskar Blues in Longmont, camping, live music and a variety of outdoor competition and clinics ranging from kayaking to biking and even fly fishing at the Lyons Outdoor Games.
Burning Can runs from 3 – 7 PM. Ticket info and more details can be found HERE. Don’t miss this!
Beer By Design will open their doors and introduce the public to their 20 BBL brew system and tasting room in Northglenn on Saturday.
They’ll have 4-5 beers waiting for you, with many, many more in the works. A Grand Opening will be held on a date yet to be determined, sometime in June. The Westword’s Jonathan Shikes has a full report on his blog. Beer By Design is located at: 2100 E 112nd Ave, Northglenn, CO 80233.
Copper Kettle will tap their Summer ESB on Saturday.
Tapping at noon, with food available at 5 PM. Copper Kettle Brewing Company is located at: 1338 S Valentia St #100, Denver, CO 80247.
The Colorado Craft Beer Show’s back in the studio this week. Turk will be joined by guests from Prost, Loveland Aleworks, The Cheeky Monk and Wynkoop.
The Colorado Craft Beer Show airs on AM760 from noon – 2 PM every Saturday.
Take the week off would ya! We know you’ve been working overtime for the past few months trying to keep up with all the latest and greatest releases. The only thing on our radar this week are the new Imperial IPA cans from Boulder’s Upslope Brewing Company.
This big ol’ 10% Double IPA is being sold in giant 19.2 oz cans. Big meets bigger. Keep your eyes peeled the next time you’re longing for that hoppy slap in the grill.
Lastly, I’ve heard from a lot of bummed out people who were shutout during the recent release of Crooked Stave’s Wild Wild Brett Violet (WWBV). Nothing makes me sadder than a beer geek down on their luck. So we’ve decided to hold a little contest and give away a bottle of WWBV to one lucky reader.
To enter, head over to our Facebook Page, (“Like” us if you haven’t already) and look for the post about the weekend news and picture of the WWBV bottle (same one as above). All you need to do is “Like” the post or leave a comment under the post. That’s it. Boom! You’re entered. We’ll announce a winner in the next Weekend Beer Buzz. Oh, and if you were lucky enough to secure a bottle(s) during the release party, please refrain from entering and let someone else have a shot at this. And we’ll know if you’re cheating. Santa knows. Santa always knows. Good Luck!
Have a good weekend friends.
