Weekend Beer Buzz 03/02/2017

Hey guys, the Weekend Beer Buzz has returned with a slightly different approach this time. Rather than blasting you guys with dozens of events every weekend, we’re going to share our very favorite beer releases and beer related events. Think of it as the breweries, tappings and happenings you’d most likely find us hanging out, drinking and supporting.

Thursday, March 2nd, 2017

As we’ve settled into 2017, we continue to look for the beautiful things this life has to offer as the world swirls around us. Sometimes, you don’t have to look much further than your own neighborhood brewery. Today, we come to you with news of the first Carriage House Series Bottle Release of 2017.

On March 2nd at 3pm, join us for the unveiling of ‘Really Really Ridiculously Good Tasting’ a Petite Farmhouse Saison handsomely aged in Chardonnay Barrels.

Our latest barrel project started with a delicate blend of Pilsner, White Wheat and Acidulated malts. We then added Bravo hops for a spicy and floral balance. Primary fermentation began with a traditional French Saison yeast, but we later barrel-conditioned for months on end with Brett Claussenii to add farmhouse characteristics to this well-rounded beer. Expect notes of cantalope. lemon zest, and light barnyard funk with soft layers of vanilla and coconut in the finish.

‘Really, Really, Ridiculously Good Tasting’ will be released on Thursday, March 2nd at 3pm when we open the doors for business. There will only be 120 375mL bottles available, with a limit of 2 bottles per customer. There will also be a limited amount of ‘Really, Really, Ridiculously Good Tasting’ available on tap for this event!

Join Ratio Beerworks in celebrating the return of Rented World Session IPA.

Originally inspired by the Possible Worlds collaboration with our friends at Call to Arms, Cannonball Creek, Station 26, and TRVE, Rented World was such a staff favorite, that we decided to bring it back full time as a Session IPA.

For Rented World, we employed our highest volume of late aroma hops to date, with massive amounts of Citra and El Dorado. Measuring in at an approachable 4.8% and 41 IBUs, this easy-drinking session IPA is big on bright citrus and pine flavors, but a mere wrinkle on the harsh bitterness scale due to the limited use of bittering hops.

Join Ratio in welcoming Rented World Session back to our core rotation of beers.

  • Barrel Aged Mexican Chocolate Stout Tapping, Copper Kettle Brewing Co., Denver, CO, Noon

On March 3rd, we’re doing a special release of Bourbon Barrel Aged Mexican Chocolate Stout!

We aged our traditional dynamic stout with cinnamon, cacao nibs, and chili peppers, in bourbon barrels for four months.

We are releasing a new variant in our superfruited sour beer series with 100% wild caught microbes. We start with a special all-wheat base designed for high levels of fruiting. The beer is then fermented in a solera using a mix of unisolated coolship-caught microbes and house foraged wild strains. After the beer finished fermentation, we added pounds of Aronia berries (chokeberries) to our stainless tank to referment.

The name “chokeberry” refers to the sourness of the fruits, which has a mouth puckering sour bite. The berries have a pleasant wine-like flavor that is complimented with subtle tannins. By refermenting the berries with our golden sour, the harsh puckering of the berries is softened with the complexity of the base beer shining through.

SHADOW FACTORY is our highest rated series and are some of the most sought after beers that we have put on tap. This version is the most unique fruit forward and complex batch we have released.

SHADOW FACTORY is Black Project Spontaneous & Wild Ales superfruited wheat sour. It is extremely fruit forward and derives most its tartness from the fruit itself. The base beer was custom designed for this “super” level of fruiting. It is low alcohol, since the fruit adds nearly 50% more when refermented, and comprised of 100% malted white wheat, to lend body and softness to the final beer while allowing the fruit flavor and tartness to shine through. SHADOW FACTORY features a wide and rotating variety of fruits, often singular, but occasionally in combination with one or more other fruit types.

Black Project is located at: 1290 S Broadway, Denver, CO.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse and Verboten Brewing are thrilled to announce the return of Real Ale Real Love Firkin Festival on March 4th. RARL will be a small intimate event (only 250 tickets available) held in The Garden Room at 697 N. Denver Ave, just behind the Grimm Brother’s taproom. This unique festival will showcase one-of-a-kind-beers by some of the best local breweries Northern Colorado has to offer. The small amount of beer used to make the firkins allows the brewers to push the envelope and try new experimental flavor combinations that wouldn’t be cost-effective on a larger scale.

We designed RARL with the guest’s interest in mind. We wanted to give people the unique opportunity to interact with the brewers that made and designed the beers they’re drinking. People at the festival will have the opportunity to chat with the brewers about the beers they made and the flavor profiles they were hoping would come out in the firkins. People’s choice will determine the winner of The Best of Show, and that winner will be the proud owner of the RARL trophy for an entire year. Look for promo events in Loveland and Fort Collins throughout February for chances to win tickets, they can also be purchased at either Verboten or Grimm Brothers, or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2737491

The Garden Room is located at: 697 N Denver Ave, Loveland, CO.
