Weekend Beer Buzz 04/13/2017

Kind of a lite week as most of your favorite local brewers are attending the Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia. Still, there’s plenty to keep you from going thirsty this weekend.

spangalang anniversary

Spangalang is celebrating 2 years of brewing beer in Five Points with beer releases (and re-releases), a pig roast and fantastic live jazz. Here are the details:

Beer (All day, All night): We’ll post a detailed beer list on Tuesday (4/11), but in the meantime, we can tell you that it’s going to be a blend of never released barrel aged beers, some old goodies we’ve managed to tuck away, and many of the usual taproom favorites.

*2nd Anniversary Beer (See note below)
Sugarfoot Belgian Table Beer
Beatrice Saison
Blackberry Junction (Blackberry Sour)
Birth of Cool (Cucumber Gose)
Vie en Rose (Berliner w/ Rose Hips)
American Sour
Le Voyage (Strong Sour Ale)
Liger (Ale/Lager Hybrid)
Dry Hopped Liger
D-Train IPA
Crockett Launcher (Belgian Quad aged in Red Wine Barrels)
Nightwalker Imperial Stout
Con Alma (Imperial Stout re-fermented w/ Red Wine Grape Must)
Barrel Aged Nightwalker Blend

*Our 2nd Anniversary Beer is an homage to one of our favorite beers of all time, Orval. Call us old school, but we think Orval is about as close to perfect as a beer can get. We created a Belgian Pale, dry hopped it, and then aged it on Brettanomyces. While it’s no Orval, we love the results.

Pig (2pm-ish): Brewer’s are good at brewing beer, not roasting pigs. We realized this early on, and so when we decided to roast a pig for this party, we also decided to ask some friends for help. We are incredibly lucky that Chef Kyle Foster (opening Julep on Larimer St) and Tyler Dubois (Co-Owner of The Real Dill and Co-Founder of the Pickle and Beer Society) have agreed to perform this culinary feat for us. Our hope is to start serving pig around 2pm. Sides will be included.

Music:
Tigon (Greg Harris, Patrick McDevitt and Alejandro Castano): 3pm-6pm.

The Mike Schwartz Band: 7pm-10pm

See you on Saturday!
